Gluing
Glues and adhesives are omnipresent. They can be found in nature and the animal world, are used in medicine and industry and serve as a binding agent for many materials and products.
This teaching module deals with the benefits, work and repair possibilities of and with adhesives. The reduction of defective items of clothing is illustrated by the repair of a shoe sole, as well as the avoidance of porcelain waste through the exemplary repair of a decorative bowl.
Furthermore, positive and negative aspects of gluing are highlighted and which types of adhesive are suitable for which materials.
The repairs are illustrated in individual sections using step-by-step instructions.
For technical lessons, these instructions can serve as an incentive for independent repairs. The procedure for each repair is first determined by the pupils using a card laying technique. The repair path is then discussed and successfully determined. Only after a discussion does the actual gluing together of the item to be repaired begin.
