Awareness
The term comes from the English "to be aware" and means to be conscious, informed and sensitised to problems.
It is a concept that deals with personal, physical and psychological boundaries and discrimination of all kinds. It aims to create an awareness of existing power structures and to critically scrutinise them.
Discriminatory, patriarchal and violent behaviour and attitudes are deeply rooted in our society and are therefore not isolated cases.
Our goals
Our aim is to create a study environment in which everyone feels comfortable! With our approach, we are trying to encourage a rethink at the University of Oldenburg. We want to offer a diverse and inclusive place: Any racism, sexism, ableism, hostility towards religion, cultural hostility, queer hostility and other forms of discrimination will not be tolerated!
People who violate this code of conduct have no place with us. NO means NO and above all: only YES means YES! If you experience or observe discrimination, oppression, border crossings, psychological and/or physical violence at an event or on campus, you can contact us at any time at via the Student council or anonymously using our contact form. We will of course treat your message confidentially and get back to you as soon as possible.
Even if it is difficult to share cross-border experiences, it can be a relief to talk about them and possibly find a way to deal with them.
Our offer is directed from us as students to you as a student. However, you can also contact the confidential counsellors at School V at any time.
The University of Oldenburg takes a clear stance on sexualised discrimination: it is prohibited in university life. You can find information on how to recognise sexualised violence in the "Alarm bells" document attached on the left (in the mobile version above).
