In this double lesson, the students carry out a maintenance task. This involves cleaning CPU fans on laptops. With the help of step-by-step instructions, the students carry out this repair task on their own responsibility. The question of why this maintenance work is particularly important for laptops or PCs is discussed with the students. Due to the large number of different laptop models, these instructions can only provide examples of how to proceed with this type of cleaning. Students should therefore be able to transfer the steps shown to other models. The use of video tutorials in class can be a helpful support at this point.

The instructions should be provided in appropriate quantities. Containers for screws etc. should also be available. A sufficient number of laptops should either be provided by the teacher or brought by the students themselves. In the latter case, make sure that parents are informed and have signed the disclaimer. The tools from iFixit have proven to be useful for carrying out these lessons. The necessary tools are provided in a set. Safety-relevant information should be discussed with the pupils in advance.
