DS2: MIPS
Introduction
This lesson builds on the concept of the ecological rucksack and introduces the MIPS factor. To do this, the students first receive AB 1: My product favourites. As a group, they compile a list of their favourite products. These are entered in the grey column. They then receive AB 2: "MIPS - what is it?". They find out about the meaning of MIPS and discuss it in the group if necessary. They then mark all the items on AB 1 that do not have a service function for them. For all other items, they determine how often they use them.
They then research examples of MIPS on the internet. Then they first discuss which strategies can help to reduce the MIPS factor. To do this, they are given AB 3. Their results are then presented and discussed in the group.
