The graphic shown from the World Inequality Report 2022 clearly shows how strongly the money factor determines how much emissions are emitted.
The richest 10% of the world emit almost half of all emissions. The richest 1% alone even emit 17%!
In contrast: The poorest half is only responsible for 12%.
The World Inequality Report makes a mathematical calculation: If everyone in the rich industrialised nations emitted as much as the poorer 50 percent of the population there, the climate targets set for 2030 would already have been achieved.
