DS4: Set up a repair cafe
Introduction
Finally, this double lesson discusses the requirements for setting up a Repair Café at school or in co-operation with partners outside of school. To this end, all ideas are first recorded without restriction. In the next step, the framework conditions for the realisation of the ideas are examined in more detail and the ideas are critically reflected upon. Based on the impressions and information gathered during the visit to the Repair Café, initial statements can be made on the framework conditions for the realisation of a Repair Café in a school context. The basis for the discussion regarding the establishment of a repair café is the guideline, which was developed thematically in groups as homework. The groups present their topics and discuss in plenary how a Repair Café can be realised in a school context. This is followed by a discussion on how the repair movement could be realised in co-operation with non-school partners.
Further information on setting up a repair café, liability issues and forms of organisation can be found on the ertomi & anstiftung website (see links).
Preparations
Homework from the last lesson. It also makes sense to first sound out the willingness of the school management/technology and work teachers/staff to provide support. Examples of other schools that have already been successful in establishing a repair café are helpful.
