DS1: What is a Repair Café?
Introduction
This double lesson serves as an introduction to the topic. After brainstorming about previous experiences, the students research the history and development of the repair movement. The links below are helpful for this topic. They then research which Repair Café is located near them and organise a visit. After researching the Repair Café and its main focus, the students develop a guideline for an interview with the organisers and repairers.
Preparations
Beamer, laptop and films (see links) should be prepared. The network links and Martine Postma's Repair Cafés page are suitable for research. In the second double lesson, a repair café should be visited. At www.reparatur-initiativen.de you can research where and when a repair café is taking place in your neighbourhood.
Notes:
In preparation for the second double lesson, it is advisable to discuss the visit with the organisers in advance and clarify which repairers and helpers are willing to give interviews. The groups should be divided up and instructed accordingly.
