Freshman trip

Who can go on the freshers' trip?
All first-year students of mathematics and elementary mathematics who are of legal age are cordially invited to come along to the Erstifahrt!
Unfortunately, the number of participants for the Erstifahrt is strictly limited due to our capacities, but the places are always very popular. In order to make the selection as fair as possible, we will draw lots from the registered participants after the end of the registration phase.
You also have the option of registering in pairs if you already know other (e-) maths first-timers.
If you are not financially able to pay the participation fee, we will also find a solution and cover the costs for you if necessary. Just leave us a short comment under "further comments" in the registration form.
How does the freshers' trip work?
We have put together a varied programme for you. In addition to a welcome evening with games to get to know each other, you will have the opportunity to make lots of contacts in the shortest possible time in a speed dating session. You can also try your hand at some challenging maths puzzles. We'll bring along utensils for flunky ball and werewolf rounds. You can put your team spirit to the test in a big simulation game. There will be breaks between the programme items so that you can keep yourselves busy. We round off the evenings with music, games and a drink or two.
In the interests of sustainability, all the food we provide will be vegetarian. Of course, we also take vegan diets and intolerances into consideration.
Where is the freshers' trip going?
We will be staying at the conference centre in Drübberholz near Dörverden on the Erstifahrt. In addition to around 70 beds, the house offers several large common rooms and a huge collection of board games. We can travel to the house by train and bus. Please remember to bring your semester public transport pass! It is also possible to arrive at two different times: The first group meets at 14:15 and the second at 16:15 at the main station in Oldenburg.
What is included in the participation fee?
The above price includes accommodation, part of the departure and vegetarian catering (food, fruit, snacks, water, tea, coffee, juice, milk). Beer, shandy and soft drinks are provided at cost price. Please fulfil all other food and drink requirements yourself.
How does the registration work?
You can register for the Erstifahrt from 15 September - 28 September 2025 - online on this page.
After the end of the registration period, we will draw lots for the participants. We will make sure that places are allocated fairly so that maths and elementary maths students have an equal chance of getting a place!
Please note our conditions of participation.
What was the freshers' trip like in previous years?
Registration for the freshers' trip
Please read everything carefully before registering!
You have read all the above information, fulfil the conditions of participation and would you like to join us on the Erstifahrt from 10 - 12 October 2025? Then we are happy to explain how you can register here!
The registration period runs from 15.09.2025 to 28.09.2025. 13:00
During this period, you can register using the registration form activated on 15 September.
You have the option of specifying a fellow student from the mathematics or elementary mathematics degree programmes with whom you would like to come on the Erstifahrt. Please be sure to let each other know and we will do our best to take these contacts into account in the selection procedure.
At the end of the registration period, we will draw lots to determine who will accompany us on the Erstifahrt, so that you will receive a corresponding re-registering student by email on 28 September 2025 in the evening. Please make absolutely sure that you provide an e-mail address when registering where we can reliably reach you! This may therefore be a private e-mail address and not your university e-mail address if you are not yet comfortable with this.
Together with your acceptance letter, you will also receive the bank details to which you must transfer the participation fee in good time so that we receive the money by Thursday 2 October 2025 at the latest. If we have not received the money by the morning of Monday 6 October 2025, you will unfortunately lose your place and it will be given to someone else. So keep checking your emails regularly - even if you are rejected - as you may be able to move up and everything will have to happen very quickly.
As you must also be enrolled in one of the degree programmes Mathematics or Elementary Mathematics and be at least 18 years old at the start of the trip, you will need to upload your enrolment certificate in the registration form so that we can check both.
We are looking forward to your registration and are really looking forward to a great fresher's trip with you!
