Guidelines for ecosystem service-based urban planning in Tanzania

These guidelines provide planning tools to identify and utilize the benefits of ecosystems in the range of cities for urban communities in Tanzania. The puplication provides some of the major outcomes of the ECOSOLA project. It is addressed to urban planners, landscape planners and environmental consultants from government authorities, the private sector and non-governmental organisations.

IPCC greift Artikel von Dr. Leena Karrasch auf

Im IPCC Sonderbericht über den Ozean und die Kryosphäre in einem sich wandelnden Klima“, der sich insbesondere mit den Folgen des Klimawandels für tiefliegende Inseln, marine Ökosysteme, Küsten und Gemeinden sowie Risikomanagement und Anpassung beschäftigt, findet auch die Forschung der Uni Oldenburg Gehör. Im Kapitel „Integrative Cross-Chapter Box on Low-lying Islands and Coasts“ wird ein Artikel von Leena Karrasch, Martin Maier, Michael Kleyer und Thomas Klenke zitiert. Einen besonderen Stellenwert, um die Gesellschaft in die Entwicklung zukünftiger Anpassungsmaßnahmen in tiefliegenden Küstengebieten einzubeziehen, nehmen partizipative Prozesse, gemeinsame Landschaftsplanung und ein Ko-Design von ökosystembasierten Management ein, wie auch Beispiele an der Nordseeküste zeigen (Karrasch et al. 2017, S. 666).

Forschungsinteressen

An der Schnittstelle von Natur- und Sozialwissenschaften liegen ihre Forschungsinteressen in den Bereichen sozial-ökologische Systeme, Stakeholder-Engagement, Governance- und soziale Lernprozesse, Ökosystemleistungen und Klimaanpassung. Sie ist Expertin für inter- und transdisziplinäre partizipative Planungsprozesse für nachhaltiges Land- und Wassermanagement an der Nordseeküste. Die aktuellen Forschungsschwerpunkte befassen sich mit Grundwasserversalzung und innovativen Ansätzen zur Stärkung von Hochwasser Resilienz an der Nordseeküste.

Leena Karrasch beendete ihren Dr. rer. nat (Universität Oldenburg) 2016, M.Sc. Water and Coastal Management (Universität Oldenburg) 2012 und M.Sc. Environmental and Infrastructure Planning (Universität Groningen) 2011.
