Etchings and woodcuts by students

at the Horst Janssen Museum Oldenburg Michael Wutz is the winner of the 2011 Horst Janssen Graphics Prize, an art prize awarded annually by the Claus Hüppe Foundation of the Horst Janssen Museum. The artist makes particular use of the medium of etching in his graphic work, his work thematises death cults and burial rituals of other cultures, transience and vanitas symbols. Under the direction of Katia Liebmann, students from the Institute of Art and Visual Culture at the University of Oldenburg explored the artist's working methods, themes and techniques as part of a course, producing woodcuts and etchings as well as a large collaborative work on the subject. An exhibition will be held as a result of the course from 9 to 28 May at the Horst Janssen Museum. The exhibition opens on Wednesday 9 May at 4.30 pm
