Village fiction? Between pixels and brushstrokes (2020)
Village fiction? Between pixels and brushstrokes (2020)
Multimedia exhibition from 14 to 30 May
Dates: 14–30 May 2020
Venue: Oldenburg State Library and at www.fiktiondorf.weebly.com
Villages are ever-present in our everyday lives: whether we’re doing our weekly shop at the supermarket, reading a book or playing games on our smartphones. To what extent do these depictions shape our personal ‘image of the village’? How are they used in different media formats to create specific impressions? The exhibition ‘Fiction Village? Between Pixels and Brushstrokes’ explores these and other questions.
From 14 to 30 May, the multimedia exhibition will take place at the Oldenburg State Library and on its accompanying website, www.fiktiondorf.weebly.com. The Oldenburg State Library will be transformed into a village square, where various thematic aspects will be highlighted. Visitors will not only gain insights into different fields such as art, gaming, advertising and literature, but will also be able to actively contribute their own work to the exhibition.
To limit contact, the supporting programme and educational activities have been adapted to the current circumstances and will take place digitally. Should it also prove impossible to enter the Oldenburg State Library due to current contact restrictions, visitors will be able to access all the exhibition content in digital form on the website.
This interdisciplinary exhibition has been conceived and organised by the 2018 class of the ‘Museum and Exhibition’ Master’s programme at the University of Oldenburg.
Admission to the exhibition at the Oldenburg State Library and access to the website are free of charge.
