"Konfies"

An action by students of the subject Art and Visual Culture at the University of Oldenburg
under the direction of Thomas Robbers

"Konfies" is an action by students of the subject Art and Visual Culture at the University of Oldenburg. As part of the course "Digital Illustration Techniques" in the summer semester of 2018 under the direction of Thomas Robbers, the students created digital drawings that were modelled on the English street art artist Banksy in a stencil-style monochrome design based on photo templates.

Selfies are taken to show themselves in the best light: in front of a famous location, together with celebrities or hipster friends. Hardly anyone will allow themselves to be photographed or filmed in unattractive conflict scenes. Our art project "Konfies" comes to you here at the conference "Me, you and the others ... self-organisation - self-control and the question of meaning".

Here you have the opportunity to interact with a wide variety of figures: Make fun of the stupid A., argue with the angry J., let yourself be put down by the snooty L., let yourself be seduced by the unfaithful N., come to the aid of the helpless L., push the staggering E. to the ground, let yourself be provoked by the cheeky M. - in short: stage yourself in your own way in relation to our Art characters in a conflict situation.

During the conference breaks, you will have the opportunity to take your own personal "confie" with your own smartphone. The students present will be happy to take a "Konfie" of you - photo or film. The recording will of course remain on your device as a memento, but you are also welcome to send your "Confie" by email to 2018dgsftagung@gmail.com. Your "Konfie" will then be published on the conference page on the DGSF2018 YouTube channel.

A short film on YouTube (DGSF2018) shows the students interacting with their "paper fellow students".
