Welcome To Our Pictured State
A film programme dedicated to the private and public image dispute and monopoly, presenting contributions to the production of images of knowledge, visual construction and constitution in the principles of depicting society. The interpretative sovereignty of the sound-image scissors, also the text-image scissors in classic magazine families, within medial diversity and accumulated probability densities is expanded to include playouts of the pictoriality of divisible truth.
How do systematic illustrations, pictorially depicted statistics, photographic and filmic snapshots affect the structure of visual models of the world and self-perception? What processes of abstraction and knowledge of photographic semiotics are presupposed and abbreviated?
The basic apparatus conditions and the aesthetics linked to them define a possible parameter that is supplemented by pluralistic image series in this audiovisual evening programme. Real time as a reality condition of networked information and collective transmission and participation in information theories open up perspectives on the coexistence of different interests and lifestyles in a society.
The film series brings together contemporary video art, realisations by video collectives, training and educational films, scientific and artistic slides as well as a compilation of selected video works by students of artistic media practice at the Institute of Art and Visual Culture and Integrated Media at the University of Oldenburg.
The calculation of a popular information matrix with high click rates on diagrams, snapshots and opulent photo galleries - are the rates really high or inaccurate as a result of a sausage finger? - are mixed in with proven, humorous and uncomfortable parameter estimates and inaccuracies. We would be delighted to welcome you to this mix.
