Summer term 12

As part of the practical course, the students explored the topic of movement and time in various ways, whereby the choice of media was left up to them. As part of the exhibition, a selection of the students will be showing their work.

Judith Behn examines movement during the painting process. She superimposes painterly structures and films the movement of her hand. This movement, in turn, is projected onto a sheet of paper on which the movements of the hand are drawn as simple lines. She now places this seemingly analytical network of lines on a map of the university campus and attempts to trace the path of the painterly process on the campus according to this template.

Lisa Lillpopp and Svenja Hincke create an experimental arrangement of several wheels, which serves as a starting point for large-format drawings, photographs and an object.

In a wall installation, Cathrin Jansen juxtaposes her movement on the Internet with her movement in everyday life. The framework of the work is a wall-filling coordinate system, one axis of which marks the number of clicks she makes with her mouse on the computer and the other axis of which shows the seven days of the week under investigation. Embedded in it are drawings, photos and printouts that relate to the thematic content of the websites visited and to situations from everyday life as experienced in real life.

Maike Müller and Jennifer Irmscher examine a movement sequence from the business world and document where electrical components are manufactured, where they are assembled and finally disposed of. In the wall works shown in the exhibition, they focus on the harmful effects on health that occur during the production and disposal of these components.

Manuela Mönck shows a 14-part colourful photo sequence showing a woman eating a pomegranate with relish.

Michael Zogall builds a horse from old bicycle parts, inline skates and other used materials. Turning a crank sets a mechanism in motion that produces various sounds.
