Art and science students from the University of Oldenburg are showing works of art that draw attention to the threat to the Wadden Sea ecosystem and the possible effects of climate change. Scientific research provides the impetus for the development of aesthetic art projects. They were supported by lecturers Edda Akkermann, Thomas Robbers and Dr Holger Freund.
From 15 to 19 August 2011, installations, performances and art objects were developed and presented as part of a project week on the south beach of Wilhelmshaven: bizarre figures emerge from the mudflats, the designer Le Mer creates his fashion from new plastic fabric and presents an unusual mudflat walk. A high portal overgrown with oysters with a migratory background can be seen from afar, large ozone balls roll across the meadow, a laid table invites you to dine. A game is set up, bamboo poles are tied together to form a 7 metre high scaffold...
The artists Beate Eisfeld from Hamburg and Annechien Meier from Rotterdam (NL) showed their interactive works of art, which they developed especially for this presentation.
