  • Career Insights Online - 20 February 2026, 14:00 - 16:30 online
    for young researchers in marine sciences from institutes in Bremen, Bremerhaven and Oldenburg

    Guest: Dr. Benedikt Heyerhoff
    After completing his doctorate at the ICBM, Ben changed his career from science to industry by joining Bruker Daltonics in Bremen. He now works as a software project manager and helps make the scientific instruments he once used for his studies work better in the real world by developing digital twin and maintenance software, driving global service digitalization and automation.
  • The U Bremen Research Alliance and Bremen’s interdisciplinary data competence center DataNord are pleased to share with you that registration for the Data Train Starter Track 2026 is now open for everyone!

    The Data Train program has been designed to support early career researchers and students with essential data skills for research and individual career development. The online lecture series “Starter Track” covers data literacy fundamentals, such as basic data science and machine learning concepts, statistical thinking, digital ethics and research data management according to the FAIR principles.
  • International EXC2 Summer School: The Land-Sea Interface - 06 -16 July 2026

    Place: Oldenburg + Spiekeroog
    Be one of 12 PhD students from the NMU or 12 PhD students from UOL, (registered in marine sciences)
    Application deadline: February 15th 2026

    This Summer School will explore biodiversity and biogeochemical patterns along environmental gradients in coastal ecosystems. The course is separated in a field-based course on Spiekeroog island (Wadden Sea, Germany) and a data-based evaluation phase in Oldenburg (Northern Germany). Emphasis is to learn how to work with and analyse multidimensional data. Participants will design their own projects by formulating research questions, developing hypotheses, and creating a work plan, which we will analyse together and present as a joint poster presentation at the end of the course.
